Membership is free, and we welcome Black translators from all fields. Join us in shaping a future where Black translators thrive!

Membership Criteria

BLKTRNET membership is FREE and open to all who identify as Black and meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Students: Currently studying languages, translation, or interpreting with an interest in a translation career.

  2. Practicing Translators/Interpreters: Individuals with experience or actively working in the translation field.

  3. Multilingual Individuals: Those with a multilingual background interested in developing a career in translation.

Please note: We welcome translators from diverse fields/verticals to join our community.

How To Join

If you identify as Black and meet at least one of the criteria outlined above, we invite you to complete the form here.

As a member, you will receive an invitation to join our  Online Directory closer to its launch. 

Please allow 5 working days for the review and approval of your application.

1. Respectful Communication

Members must clearly and consistently identify themselves by their real names while using the platform

Treat fellow members with kindness and respect.

Avoid offensive, discriminatory, or derogatory language.

Encourage open dialogue while maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere.

In line with our commitment to inclusivity, racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, or any form of discrimination will not be tolerated within our community. All members are expected to engage in conversations with sensitivity, recognising and valuing the diverse backgrounds and experiences of others.

2. Inclusive Community

Embrace diversity in experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives.

Be mindful of the varied journeys within the translation field and support one another's unique paths.

3. Professionalism

Engage in discussions with professionalism and integrity.

Share experiences and knowledge constructively, fostering a space for professional growth.

Report any content that violates the Code of Conduct.

4. Contribution to Community Building

Actively participate in discussions, share advice, and contribute to the community's vitality.

Encourage fellow members, especially newcomers, to engage and share their perspectives.

5. Membership Criteria Adherence

It is imperative that all members fully comply with the membership criteria - Rachel Dolezal or any individuals attempting to replicate her actions will not be tolerated.

6. Confidentiality

Respect the privacy of others and refrain from sharing personal information without consent.

Avoid sharing confidential and/or sensitive information/material that could compromise individuals or organisations.

7. Intellectual Property and Copyright

Respect the intellectual property rights of others.

When sharing content, ensure you have the right to do so or provide proper attribution.

Avoid the unauthorised distribution of copyrighted material.

8. Legal Compliance

Adhere to the laws and regulations of England and Wales as well as international conventions applicable to Community Interest Companies.
